Description
Explore the Dominican desert on a full-day tour from Santo Domingo. Visit sand dunes, salt ponds, and coral reefs. Try sandboarding, snorkel in the ocean, and enjoy a local lunch. Depart from Santo Domingo at 8:00 AM and take a 2-hour road trip to Salinas, with some interesting stops on the way. Arrive at the sand dunes and spend some time learning about them, taking pictures, and of course, sandboarding. No experience is required. After having fun at the dunes, walk through the salt mines and its pink lakes, where you can see the salt process and workers taking salt out of the lakes. Continue to Playa El Derrumbao, where you can go snorkeling. Take a 20-minute walk (one way) under the hot sun to the beach. Walk into the beach with urchins and grab the goggles to watch the coral reefs and fish underwater. Then, walk back and change clothes by the car. Return to a local place for some authentic Dominican lunch. After lunch, return to Santo Domingo, happy and tired at around 3-4 PM.
